Archer Project Proposal
When the Cathedral Archer Project contacted Epigenesys, they wanted some help to give their charity, which supports the homeless and vulnerable in Sheffield, some 21st century presence:
A simple website where we can outline what we do to support the homeless and vulnerable in Sheffield. Possibly a section to upload relevant articles and our newsletters.
We would like to be able to update it with latest press releases and a news story for the front page and include some case studies or people we have helped.
We would also like to be able to link to our Justgiving site and Sheffield Cathedral site.
Epigenesys’ Chris Murray, a regular at GeekUp Sheffield, got in touch with BashMash organisers Ian Ibbotson and Jag Gill and a preliminary meeting was set up with Tracy Viner (Fundraising Manager) and Tim Renshaw (Archer Project Manager).
After a really positive first meeting, this is what BashMash have signed up to deliver for the Archer Project:
- Domain registration and hosting for http://archerproject.org.uk
- Wordpress-driven website for easy content management, service user contribution and search engine optimisation
- Weather Watch widget to give dynamic alerts about how environmental conditions might affect rough sleepers
- Facebook application to promote exposure and support on the leading social networking site
- Integration with Twitter to help broaden connections with agencies and supporters
- Facility to publish stats that demonstrate the tangible impact of the Archer Project’s work
- Links to related and partner organisations, including key sponsors
- Promotion of the Archer Project Justgiving online donation facility
- Broadcast facility to announce and appeal for ad-hoc resource shortages
- Advice and basic training on how to use the new technology to leverage the benefits of social media
The solution will give the Archer Project a great foothold on the internet from which to build up lasting connections with sponsors, service users and donators. The simplicity and flexibility of Wordpress makes it very easy to push timely news and updates about the work done by the organisation, from stories about the project users to fundraising appeals and events, and this in turn helps to sustain awareness of the charity.
So there’s the challenge … all that in just one epic BashMash Collaboration Day.
